First Sacraments - Children's Reconciliation & Eucharist

Welcome to Children's Sacraments at St. Stephen's!  
Children preparing to receive Baptism, Reconciliation, and the Eucharist are on a faith journey that will affect their whole life. We help them understand the sacraments in light of their relationship with Jesus, their families, and their faith community. 

This program is for registered parishioners. If your family is not yet registered in the parish, you can let us know when you sign-up your child.  We will help you get registered. (You can do it online, and you need both Parish Registration for your family AND Faith Formation Registration for each child.) For St. Anthony parishioners (part of our parish family): We are happy for you to join us! You can choose between the programs at St. Anthony and St. Stephen the Martyr. Ideally, contact St. Anthony's faith formation first, so you are fully aware of their offerings. (They are wonderful!)

First Year (1st - 5th Grade)
For their first year, they can either take K-5 classes with us or they can take classes at a Catholic school. To sign up, use the online form at the bottom of this page. If you first want more information about K-5 formation at St. Stephen's, click HERE.

Sacrament Year (2nd-5th Grade)
This is the First Sacraments Class. All the children in First Sacraments will join together, no matter what they did the year before. The first half of the year they learn about First Reconciliation. After Christmas, they start learning about First Eucharist. If children need Baptism, they will receive their sacraments at Easter Vigil.

• 2-3 times/month, parents teach at home, opening the Bible, talking about faith with their children. (Following simple lessons that we provide.) Parents can adjust to their child's needs: 
• 1 time/month, parents attend onsite class with their child. When you register, you can choose either the Wednesday or the Sunday program. This includes fun activities and learning with other families, class time for children and parent break-outs. 
• Several times during the year, parents attend Family Mass with their child.. (All family members are welcome.) Teaching starts at 6:00pm. Mass starts at 6:30.

• Continue to engage with our community on Wednesday nights as above. 
• Attend ALL scheduled Sunday morning classes (4 in fall, 4 in spring)
• Stay in close communication, including quick response to emails, RSVP's, and document requests.

Starting 9/9/25, registration is limited. and admissions for sacrament formation will be on a case-by-case basis, approved by Shannon Battles, Director
